Con Decreto del Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri, in data 23 gennaio 2009, è stato prorogato, fino al 31 dicembre 2009, lo “stato di emergenza in ordine agli eccezionali eventi meteorologici che hanno colpito la regione Piemonte e la regione autonoma Valle d’Aosta il giorno 29 maggio 2008”.
